Hoboken Aces Parents: Meet The US Open Honey Deuce!

Written by Tory Zawacki Roy.

Dear Aces Parents,

Happy US Open Week!

With school right around the corner for Aces, is it a little too hectic to make it out to Flushing this year?

Luckily, the Honey Deuce, the instagram-able cocktail of the tournament holds a special place in my heart: it was the signature cocktail at my wedding in 2017 (before it was trendy)!

Here’s how to make your Honey Deuce at home so you’re ready for first ball.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ oz vodka
  • 3 oz fresh lemonade
  • ½ oz Chambord
  • Honeydew melon, melon baller, cocktail skewers or toothpicks (optional, but looks great on the ‘gram)

How to Make It

Fill a tall glass with crushed ice.

Pour in your vodka and lemonade. Give it a good stir.

Gently drizzle in the Chambord—it should float a little and swirl into a pretty pink ombré.

Garnish with melon balls on a cocktail skewer or toothpick

Tips from your Coaches

  1. If you don’t have a melon baller, a teaspoon works.
  2. Freeze your melon balls ahead of time and use them like ice cubes.

And of course- for our “Ace Friendly” Honey Deuce, swap the vodka for sparkling water, and grenadine instead of Chambord.

Enjoy the tennis and cheers!
